And The Question Remains Unanswered…

It was yet another day for Peehu. She had moved to the big city after a lot of infighting. Situations didn’t favour her ever. However, the only guy she could repose her faith on was Tam. He had arranged for her stay at a PG with four other girls.

She always felt something for this guy. He was her first possession, her first lover and the first male she could surrender herself to. She couldn’t combat her insecurity within, after moving to the new city. While traveling in the rickshaw she rested her head on Tam’s shoulder and released her breath. She was fully aware that Tam had a girlfriend then, nevertheless sought some refuge in him. Tam didn’t shove her off, he didn’t react either.

The next weekend he complained that his cook didn’t turn up and asked for Peehu’s help. He asked her if she could prepare some dishes of egg, to which Peehu gave her consent. She landed up at his house. They spent time with each other, gradually came close, and ended up being intimate…

When he touched the most delicate parts of her body, an innocent Peehu whispered, ’Do you love me?’ He mocked and said ‘I love my girlfriend.’ Her world of fantasises came to a standstill all of a sudden. She never spent a night away from her house, leave apart with a guy. She kept composing herself that Tam might be unsure of his feelings, and that he loved her for sure.

Those thoughts were just bubbles. None of them were real. They ended up being physical a lot more times, however her fantasies never came true. The girl kept on asking, ‘What is all of this for then?’ ‘Just for fulfilling your lust?’ He laughed it off and said, ‘Well isn’t it the same for you too?’ She dare not tell him that her heart was still reserved. Only for him…

Days rolled by, he didn’t change. She finally decided to move on. She disclosed the darkest chapter of her life with an old mate. He consoled her and asked her to be strong and embrace the other happy things in life. He also made her feel how special she was, and definitely deserved a better guy. A happy Peehu started reposing her faith in him. She blabbered everything- starting from her roommate snoring, to her boss irritating her for petty things, and how the maid made a salty curry.

The friendship continued. They talked often for long hours. It’s wasn’t love from the girl’s end, neither from the guy’s. Today when she opened her Whats App message, she read a text from him, ‘What is the colour of your panty?’ Flabbergasted, she replied, ‘What?’ The guy said, ‘No problem yaar, tell me your bra colour at least…’

Was this anything short of a ‘MeToo’ moment for the poor soul? The question remains unanswered…
