HG Wells Was And Is Still Relatable!

The first time I picked up a novel of HG Wells was during my school days while we were still trying to decipher what Science Fiction actually meant. The first science fiction chapter ever in our curriculum was The Avu Observatory. As the name signifies, the entire story revolves around an Observatory and two scientists, one junior and the other senior.

Usually, science fictions don't open with a bang, or so I feel. In most cases, they have a mundane beginning and mostly the story unfolds in the 5th or 6th page (Science Fictions are usually lengthy). And the end would turn out to be glamorous and victorious. Almost all of them had a proper jovial end, that would gleam up your day, enough for you to live through the monotonous mathematics class.

What I felt particularly interesting about science fiction is that there's always an enticing character involved in it. If you read Satyajit Ray's 'The Alien', you might have a rough idea that a lot of times, the societal structure targets the deprived section of the society, very well taking good advantage of their situation and knowing they don't have a say. Also it's pretty easy to target people who would take down anything and would never raise their voice.

Now this is where these witty science fiction characters come to play and they make us realise that we can't actually function without them.

Talking about books, I enjoy reading classics, romance and serious matters, but science fiction undoubtedly occupies a special place down in the core of my heart. People like HG Wells and Satyajit Ray make it possible, acquainting and enlightening readers like me to be more educated, entertained and informed day by day. And, this is a special feeling that is contagious and you would want to hold onto it for a lifetime.
