Are Zoom Conversations Any Better For Real?

The pandemic has got us thinking for real, and also indulged us into thinking, innovating and redefining new things. Yet, we do miss our pals, maybe our acquaintances too, and our colleagues. Zoom has been acting as a saviour ever since Mr Corona hit us, and experts have stated that Zoom has been one of the platforms that have been benefiting the most, among its peers.

Well, yeah it’s been kind of a saviour. Imagine not meeting your friends for such a long time, when now you have a chance to e-meet them, might as well use and make ample use of the opportunity. While some are extremely conscious as to how they would be looking, whether or not they’d be needing proper hairdo or touch up, others want to play safe, by shunning the video altogether, I have huge respect for such folks, as I fall under the same category too.

Thing is, do these practices come to help? Are these virtual exchanges of thoughts and information reliable? Most importantly, are these conversations robust enough to satiate the thirst for full, cosy real-life conversations?

Perhaps yes, perhaps not.

Most would be opining that virtual conversations don’t really succeed in serving as a ground for fulfilling the need to be amiable and social. Yet, it does serve the purpose. The other school of thought holds the belief that video conferencing tools at least help people to see them face to face sans mask, face shields and hand gloves. If they were to meet them face to face, they would perhaps not be able to get a holistic approach and the genuineness of real-time conversations.

How much ever it’s debatable as to whether or not technology has been a game-changer, and has added pretty much to our lives, all we can say is it has definitely provided a ground for us to tie our loose ends. Imagine spending the entire lockdown sans the internet. How could organisations tackle the entire WFH and WFA scenario? How would there be any trust and reliance both from the part of the employees and employers?

Getting back to what I started the article with, whether or not Zoom conversations are any better. Well, if they aren’t then lacks of e-meets, e-launches, webinars, and e-inaugurations shall be turning turtle. If they are, then we must strive to make conversations more real, personal, effective, and innovative. How?

Well, that’s where the innovation part comes to play.
