Got a Minute to Day Dream?

In the early days of school when teachers would often be indulging in using 'daydreaming’ as an excuse for possibly not being attentive, or one stating incorrect answers, it would often feel that ‘daydreaming;’ was in reality quite derogatory. More often than not, people would be heard telling others, “Hey, stop daydreaming” or “C’mon, it’s not the time to daydream.”

But, sometimes when the mind wanders to several places, on a solitary vigil when it gets really introspective, it often repeats and questions the existence of things that are called derogatory, and whether or not daydreaming would be featuring in the same…

As usual, there arises a rift between the logical and illogical part of the brain and this time the analytical mind sticks to daydreaming. Well, to be honest, now that I am writing about it, I can come to think of it, and realise that it’s not that bad actually. For instance, think about this that daydreaming allows one to travel places never travelled before, eat food never tasted before, and sometimes even been bestows one with the innate qualities of reading minds that never actually happened before…

Daydreaming also has varied options and connotations, that appear and apply differently to different people, and act according to their mindsets. Consider working from home on a dreary day by your desk, contemplating and calculating how much time is left for the weekend to arrive, or how many hours more for the day to end. Just at this time, when fatigue gets to you fully, you seek help in a cup of green tea, and then allow yourself to be disturbed a little. Not by anyone else, but by your own thoughts…

Thoughts that’d help you transcend to a different plane altogether, where you travel amid clouds, rainbows and sunrays, maybe even strive hard to find out the real reason behind the very consuming and depressing pandemic, and how many days for a vaccine to arrive…

Or another likely scenario could be treating yourself to a gourmet brunch in a five star sans masks, and thermal screenings, obviously making sure that the restaurant you’d be having your meal in would be devoid of corona’s presence and that you’d be good to go.

Lastly, you getting to cast a magic spell in the dying state of affairs and taking full control of the dying economy, and trying every possible means to turn it around…

Imagine, what a sight would that be, and also what an experience, and a wonderful outcome out of it.

Thing is, maybe, daydreaming isn’t that bad, if not anything, it certainly has the capacity of enlightening your dull, monotonous day, and fulfilling your day with hope when everything else around seems so dull, lame and dark. Also, possibly it’s time that the definition of derogatory must be revisited and that you must make some effort to inculcate daydreaming in your daily roster. Well, not only to lighten and brighten your days, but all those folks around you.
