Count on me, Like 1, 2, 3

Whenever this Bruno Mars classic would be played out loud in my one of my earlier offices, I could recall all of us to sway and bob our heads exactly matching in with the tunes. Those were the days of romanticism, and none of us in our wildest dreams would’ve contemplated something as heinous as COVID to strike our physical encounters, and force us to go digital.

In between copies, creatives and illustrations, and Bruno Mars playing in the background, there’d be countless occasions when a few of us could be spotted exchanging glances at each other as if perfectly attuning to the lyrics of the song, making promises, and allowing ourselves to sail through the ocean of platonic romanticism. Now, the intensity and depth of being platonic is for sure, relative, since the gestation period varies from one individual to another, especially when the heart is concerned.

Or so say the authors, and Bruno Mars in his own avatar, where makes a vivid mention of the following:

If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea

I'll sail the world to find you

If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see

I'll be the light to guide you”

Coming to think of it in the truest sense, the soul does realise that the pandemic has to some extent challenged all of the previously held perceptions, mostly putting across the view that online meetings can’t really suffice for the physical warmth that you derive after an engaging conversation, but you aren’t left with that option anymore, owing to the newest form of convention that requires you to be distant socially.

The point is under such circumstances when you can’t help but give in to technology, you do realise that there is a lacuna remaining within. Here you can’t really help but rely exclusively and solely on yourself. Thus, the line, “You can count on me, like 1, 2, 3 is now dedicated to the first person.
