Innocence to be cherished?

In one of the older interviews, American business magnate Steve Jobs said that most people lack the ability to think outside of their circle. A circle that has been primarily designed by society, majorly asking them to fit in. He went to say that why would anyone want to live that kind of a life where he/she is being governed by others ideals, why not craft an entirely different reality when one has the choice?

Now, if delved a little deeper and thought carefully, we’d see most people that have the courage to be innocent in this adulterated world are subjected to mockery, insults and sneers. But, all of this for what sake? If this is a free country then why shouldn’t he be able to live the kind of life that he wants to? Who are people to judge?

Sadly, in such times hypocrisy has been hugely rewarded, and people that don’t seem to have an understanding of pretence that leads to despair eventually. Often the attackers don’t leave any stone unturned to ridicule one publicly and make him aware of his utter foolishness. Coming to think about it, isn’t innocence a quality to cherished?

We seem to be blindfolded into this unending race of competition and rivalry. This might be precisely why we don’t seem to find the sky attractive anymore and wonder about what’s so special in children playing cricket on the road. But, an innocent person would perhaps bank on the opportunity right there and join the kids in playing cricket, for he doesn’t seem to long for anything else other than happiness (both his and the others.)

When analysed from a neutral angle, all things kept aside could we practically say that all this hypocrisy and plans of backstabbing have really gotten us anywhere? Can we, for once, honestly claim that we’ve been happier diminishing the others?

Well, that may require deep introspection, but the answer is likely not to be in the affirmative. In that case, what’s the point of acting up so very much? Casting a look at our fellow innocent beings, it would come to the knowledge that they have known life from a much wider perspective, delving into its essence fully, so why not let them live the life that they want to live?

We often say that many things in life are to be cherished, and some are even to be cherished forever. In that case, why can’t we just cherish innocence, somethings that’s really a rare found quality?
