It Is Pain Which Shapes You

When was the last time you could say that any form of joy, zeal or glory made you a better person, or made you stronger? Sure, it had definitely relaxed your impulsive nerves, but can vouch for the fact that it was not momentary? And, when you couldn’t seek it somewhere, you sought refuge elsewhere, and then somewhere else, but never met with success.

Can we, therefore, infer that you were roaming around everywhere with a begging bowl, seeking pleasure? Could anyone provide you with permanent bliss, was not all of it ephemeral? How many times did you just decide to stay in your comfort zone, thinking everything will just be hunky dory?

Point it was it ever so rosy enough? And, could you, rather did you take any steps to delve deeper and strive to contemplate what went wrong? You didn’t, because you were too self-immersed in your self-created mirage, which never existed in the first place.

Now, take out the time to contemplate the time when you were first deserted, or when you were just left behind. When it felt like you are down onto the ground, and with no one, I repeat no one around you to lift you up. When you saw the world crashing right before your eyes!

When you had no clue how you would pass that week, how you would support your family, what facial expression will you up in front of those who were keen to hear about success, how could you tell them about your failures when they were in habit of seeing you succeed?

When you would put yourself in a ridiculous situation of self-doubt, and curse almost every other supernatural creature in front of you for your fate?

But, is that all that happened to you, or what happened because of you? Ever thought about it? When you talk of those days, does it not feel like yesterday, when you were down there wailing on the floor helplessly? Who helped? Did anyone come to your rescue?

Yes, you were rescued, I’ll tell you by who. YOU. Read that again, and just look at the person you have become today - this immaculately strong, better and wise person. Now, would you not be grateful for the pains you endured during those days, for the person that you are today - the fearless, independent and far-sighted one?

Would you not thank your pains for shaping you up into this wonderful piece that you are today? Now, that you have realised that it is no one else but you, or as the Upanishads say “Tat tvam asi” (That thou art)
