Permanent Relation

Just yesterday as I was hustling and jostling through the day there was this beautiful peace that I came across. It talked of a permanent relation, now see those of us who have read the Bhagavad Gita or even William Shakespeare for that matter will relate to the fact that everything is ephemeral on earth.

This reminds me of another fable I read when I was a kid where a hermit was passing by a huge kingdom, and he was invited by the king to have a conversation with him. The king confided in the hermit that nothing in his empire was good, as the ministers were corrupt, income wasn’t high, and the only prince had no interest in his father’s affairs and would spend the entire day just merry-making.

The hermit heard everything peacefully and said, “Don’t worry, O king, this too shall pass.” The hermit left the kingdom, and it so happened that after 20 years he was passing by the same kingdom where the king recognised him and asked him to visit the palace. On visiting the king, the latter revealed that everything worked out wonderfully for him, his kingdom was functioning well under his son who became pretty serious leaving all his bad habbits, the corrupt ministers had been replaced, and nothing had been so well ever before.

Hearing this the hermit remained calm, and said with a smile, “Don’t worry, O king, this too shall pass.” Now, you see the context of ephemeral right there?

Okay, getting back to talking about permanent relations, we have to understand that everything and everyone that we come in contact with in this world during our lifetime is going to end, as that is the way it has been designed, and it would be our foolishness to try and cling onto things that are not meant to stay forever.

So, is there anything in this world that isn’t temporary? Yes, seems like there is and that is the Self, the ever-shining and knowledgeable Self, which that it's eternal, and never fades.

We have to understand that the Self is always available to us, and we must find the time to contemplate, realise, and understand, for only that is permanent of all relations. Starting today take out the time to connect with your real Self, and soon you will see everything falling in place, letting you cherish everything as it comes by.
