I Rely On The Self For All My Insecurities

Hello all, how is everyone holding up? First up, please accept my sincere apologies for not having written for the past two weeks. I have realised that something or the other will always keep crawling into your life, and unknowingly we tend to attach a hell lot of importance to those.  Mostly what we fail to understand and attach that kind of importance to ourselves and our own priorities, like what just happened to me regarding the blog. We have to learn to prioritise our tasks, and also make sure that anything that comes up shouldn’t meddle with our affairs.

It’s high time that we must adhere to these, and not let ourselves loose. This is a promise that we will have to make to ourselves - no excuses this time. Now, getting to the topic of our discussion, today I am going to mention dealing with insecurities. Let’s face it, all of us have our own sets of insecurities, we often wonder if we are the so-called “good enough” as compared to others.

I can say for myself that I encounter all these quite frequently and when you are hit by this bug, frankly nothing seems to help at all. I keep questioning myself continuously, pass through several sessions of self doubt and realise that there is practically no end to this. In fact there is no surety here other than the fact that you are just going to make yourself more miserable in the process, if not anything.

So, where does this end? I read in the Bhagavad Gita that it is the Self that you should be focusing on, the Self which is all powerful and all pervading, on which you can rely all the time, and it is that which is your true Self.

And, when you actually do take refuge in that you realise that this is your real nature, and everything else that you experience - happiness, misery, insecurity is all momentary. Our problem is that we tend to associate ourselves and get too attached to the body and mind, not realising our real nature, and all the miseries of our lives.

So, how do we tackle this situation? Do we just wash our hands off? Our scriptures say no, we must recognise all that we are facing, acknowledge it, take a deep breath and say to ourselves that all of this is going to pass.

And, when it will pass we will be able to connect with our real nature, and it is the Self that will come to our rescue. Does this mean that we could get rid of my insecurities altogether? Will it  no longer be there? Of course not, but this time when we meet our insecurities we can try to operate from a position of power and authority…
