Making Hard Choices

Hey there, everyone, how is it going? Hope you’ve been holding yourselves well, despite all the toughness and setbacks. Hmm, yeah I know it is difficult, it is going to be difficult, it was never meant to be easy. I also know that it is driving you nuts, you are going frantic, but you know what, all the growth and progress that you will see in your life will be a result of the hard choices that you made, believe it or not.

Well, this is not something that I am claiming but if you see that most of the people that have gained success never achieved it operating from their comfort zone. And I can guarantee that. Coach Mel Robbins says that no moment is going to feel like the best moment ever, and no one is going to feel ready to do anything ever but guess what, you gotta do it anyway.

Also, if you analyse carefully we will gather that nobody actually gets rich staying an employee for the rest of their lives, and I am guessing that a lot of that has to do with the employees staying in their comfort zone, and not leaving it ever. Well, that’s just a way of life they’ve chosen for themselves and there is absolutely no problem in leading that kind of life, but sure it takes more than just being in the “comfort zone” to go after the higher stakes.

And, perhaps going after the bigger stakes and expecting things to go your way requires zen patience, tremendous perseverance and a commendable can-do attitude, and frankly, none of this is possible staying in the “comfort zone.” Since this is a spiritual blog, I’ll also try and connect the topic of perseverance with Mohammad, the founder of Islam.

Most of you would know that Mohammad was a trader for a major portion of his life, and it was only much later that he became a Prophet and founded Islam. He was mocked and ridiculed, children would throw stones at him, and women filth, but he never complained, and it was only after ten years that his talent was finally recognised when people began respecting Islam as a religion.

We can safely infer that it took much more than operating in his comfort zone, to go out and establish a religion for millions to follow. Now, would the world call him a success? Absolutely they will, and almost all of us here would agree that besides his spiritual acumen, he needed to make a lot of hard choices before he could actually establish Islam as a religion.

They say that the tears of today will be the joys of tomorrow, and I do not know why but this gels with me, sure, the path now might seem to be really hard and full of pebbles, but I am sure there is light at the end of the tunnel.

And, if I can see the light at the end, not only can I enlighten myself, but also everyone else around me, and for that I am willing to make hundreds or even thousands of hard choices each and every day!
