Holding on

Hello hello dear readers, how are things going on with y’all and how has life been treating you? Have you been able to do something that you always wished for or have you got your hands on something even better? Whatever it is, I am sure it is for the better, and in case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am sure you will soon enough.

Think about my case for example. There have been countless times in my life when I have encountered failures, and found myself on the ground, only to fall again. And, this wasn’t just once, this happened countless times. Yes, I lost but also grew along the way, and I realised that every fall or every rejection didn’t really mean failure, but it was just an opportunity for me to grow. You know what happens after you are consistent with a discipline for an extended period of time is you kind of get used to it, perhaps that explains why after so many problems you choose to still stick around.

They say that failures are the pillars of success, and I couldn’t agree more. I guess a person does really fail when he/she gives up. There is this resilience, this faith in holding on which probably makes it possible for people to see the golden light.

Sounds tough? Okay, let me take the help of an anecdote. Have y’all ever seen crowded trains, and how people jostle to get inside? Especially the ones who stay far from the city? They would keep on holding the handrail with all their might and never want to give up. Now, that is a classic example of holding on.

Now, when you are working out and engaging in physical activities, like running or lifting weights, you would know that muscles get sore and it feels like you are almost writhing in pain. But, you can’t help it, as now you have to suck it up and work out the next day, and the next, and the next. And, what comes out of working so hard? Perhaps the gorgeous body that you always dreamt of, you get a great shape, feel motivated and fit into the favourite dresses of yours. All of this because you chose to hold on.

Let's try and take the spiritual route now. You try chanting and meditating, and the initial days feel like a great hurdle to you when you are always occupied by evil and negative thoughts. But, most of you would agree that meditation is one of the most relaxing and calming things ever, all you have to do is just hold on.

During COVID, most of us were acquainted with the phrase, “This too shall pass”, and in fact it did., because we fought bravely, held onto ourselves, and chose to hold on. Sure, there are exceptional circumstances, and in those cases, you always have to use your judgment, and in the majority of cases holding on, patience, and resilience have a great bearing on the overall development of an individual’s personality.

Don’t believe me? Try for yourself!
