Victory Is Sure To Come
Hey again, my dear readers, what a beautiful afternoon to be writing this piece to you. Sure, it’s sultry and humid, but on the inside we are all green and warm, right? You bet. You know, going through life, I have realised that there are more failures than successes, and even though failures could absolutely crush you, they also leave along with them a message to be remembered and kind of prepare you for life.
When you are walking through the dark, battling insecurities, and injustice, seeing yourself struggle through every moment of life, you feel like this is it, this is the end, and life has nothing more to offer. But you know what, life always has something to offer, and it is mostly better than the last situation.
Of course, there are some situations which just do not make sense, and we often wonder how did we land up there, when we did everything right? We worked hard, provided for our family, and sowed the seeds on time so that we could have a good harvest, but just the night before the harvest we were attacked by a hail storm.
One of my favourite monks Swami Vivekananda asked us to plod through the dark with all our might and main. To quote him:
“If the sun by the cloud is hidden a bit…
If the welkin shows but gloom,
Till plod on yet a while brave heart
The victory is sure to come…
The duties of life are sore indeed…
And its pleasures fleeting vain…
Till plod on through the dark brave heart,
With all thy might and main…
To thee are those that see afar,
To thee is the Lord of the might…
All blessings pour on thy great soul...
To thee may come all right…
I just read the poem once again and recalled all those times when I wanted to give up when things got too messy to be dealt with anymore, but I couldn’t, I just tried to hold on and see what happens at the end. And, I have to admit that I emerged victorious in the end.
So, what’s the bottom line here? To hold on, keep walking, do what we have to do to reach our goals, and not listen to our minds that want to procrastinate, but be stoic and show up every day. EVERYDAY.
Continuing this practice, we will reach such a state where we all will look back and be proud of ourselves as we never gave up, we jostled through all the odds, fought every battle, lost many on the way, got back again and fought back, only to emerge as victorious as ever. Now, we can proudly say that victory is sure to come, actually in our case, it has already come!
